Esta curta metragem espanhola do início do século XXI passa-se na Espanha rural por volta da década de 40 – a Guerra Civil tinha tido o seu término havia poucos anos e o espectro nazi encontrava-se a ganhar popularidade – e retrata a vida de uma família.

O filme começa com uma visão de um quarto onde se encontram um bebé e a mãe, ambos adormecidos, contrastando com o ambiente exterior onde homens e mulheres trabalham.
Ao longo do filme vemos como as personagens passam o tempo (jogos, brincadeiras, fazer uma trança) ou como têm o tempo ocupado (ceifar, martelar o ferro, fazer pão, estender a roupa, cozer, engraxar). Um rapaz que desenha um relógio no pulso ouve o martelar do metal em tempos certos, como se fosse uma medição do tempo.
The film begins with a view of a room where a baby and mother are both asleep, contrasting with the outside environment where men and women work.
Throughout the film we see how the characters spend their time (games, plays, making a braid) or how they spend their time (mowing, hammering the iron, making bread, rolling out clothes, cooking, greasing). A boy who draws a watch on his wrist hears the hammering of metal in times, as if it were a measure of time.
A roupa do bebé vai progressivamente ficando manchada, o tempo vai passando e o sangue espalha-se cada vez mais. Até que o bebé acorda, a chorar, e o tempo como que pára: todos deixam as suas tarefas e acorrem ao quarto. Aí ficam todos a ver uma empregada a fechar o cordão umbilical.
O último plano do filme é um plano geral onde todos os personagens do filme estão juntos, parados, a pousar para uma fotografia. O filme acaba com a fotografia. (Madalena Pinto)
Baby’s clothes will progressively getting stained, time goes by and the blood spreads more and more. Until the baby wakes up, crying, and the time stops, everyone leaves their chores and bedroom. There they are all watching a maid closing the umbilical cord. The last plan of the film is a general plan where all the characters in the film are together, stopped, landing for a photo.
