Our trip to Paris – Day 2

The second day started off with the girl’s visit to the cinematheque.

DSC_0079

The cinematheque was filled with people from all over the world and some of us even started a conversation with other groups.

After a very interesting morning in the cinematheque, we went on another walk.

Our destination: the Eiffel Tower.

In total we walked over 20,000 steps on the first day

Quite a record, don’t you think?

The parish of Zion & Dietrich Bonhoeffer

There is probably more history behind the parish of Zion in Berlin, the place we selected for our short film, as one might think.

Since we are German, we have a certain history: the Nazi era.

Dietrich Bonhoeff800px-Dietrich-Ber, who was one of the few that have opposed the Nazi regime, worked as a temporary assistant in the parish from 1931. He helped with a conformation class of 50 boys.

In 1931 the majority of Germans were without work and especially the region around the parish of Zion was a centre of social problems.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote at the time: « At first, the boys behaved just appallingly – to the extent that I experienced real discipline problems for the first time. But one thing helped here too: that I simply recounted biblical
material to the boys … »

At this difficult time Bonhoeffer tried to help the boys whenever he could. He even bought material for their conformation suits and cut them out himself so that « his boys » could have an appropriate conformation ceremony.

Zionskirche_innen_1930

In 1943 a fire bomb had a destructive effect on the roof of the parish of Zion. The church was reconstructed on 9th August 1953. However, Looking around the church you can still see that the parish is a place that has experienced a lot due to the fact that the walls are still not in their best condition.

However, we thought that the history of the parish of Zion and its external condition first of all underlines our history and secondly will make our short film hopefully ascetic.

It is all about the contrast and showing a place that links back to our German history but mostly using this place for another story, highlights the place itself and more over our story line.

The third shooting day

On march 21 we started our last shooting day at 9 am at the train station Rosenthaler Platz.rosenthalerBecause of the size of the group we decided to split the group. The first part of the group met at 9 am and the other part of the film course got togheter at 1 pm near the Potsdamer Platz to film the scenes which take place in the kiosk.

bildOn this day we could not cope with the cliche of the german punctuality as both groups came one hour late to their shooting locations.

The shooting itself spon away. For the kiosk scene we got very nice support by the seller who will be seen in the finished movie.

Editing

We all know that making a movie takes a lot of effort. It took us three days to shoot all the scenes we had planned for our movie.

IMG_3023

Our class met every Tuesday and Friday for a quick meeting.

IMG_3026

Every single time, we watched our Movie.

Over and over again

IMG_3031

Everyone of us had to take notes in our little booklets. Then we discussed what we liked and what we disliked about the recent editing.

…because…

IMG_3097

…not only one of us has edited « Ich hab’s doch gesehen »..

IMG_3105

…but everyone who was involved in it.

IMG_3125

Several people edited the movie whenever they found time

IMG_3130

IMG_3133

I think our movie will never be perfect. If you watch it over and over again, you will always find some little detail that could have been improved.

However, we worked as a team and not only as individuals.

Perfection was not what we have aimed for but rather something that was created by everyone and which in the end brought us together.

First Shooting Day

Monday and Tuesday we went in the Zionskirche instead of going to school. It’s a very old church, which survived the second world war, and the perfect place to make a movie.

IMAG0172

On the first day, we filmed a lot of scenes and developed new ideas while filming. We filmed the intercession scenes and some basketball scenes too

IMG-20180320-WA0005

IMG-20180320-WA0017

Together we had a lot of new ideas and fun!

IMG-20180320-WA0006

The people which didn’t take place in the scenes talked to the teachers about more ideas for the following scenes.

IMAG0168

While filming we discovered the diversity and beauty of the church.

IMAG0173IMAG0171

We look forward to make a movie and prepared us for the movie leisure time too. We have seen and analyzed many fragments of films (for example Zabriskie point) to think about the subject « places and stories » and made a lot of lessons. Finally a  filmexpert came to our school to learn to view places and stories in a different light.

Hi everyone!

My name is Lisa and I’m 16 years old. I live in Berlin and I really like to live here. My hobbies are dancing, drawing and probably also watching tv shows on Netflix. My favorite season is fall because I love rain and cozy evenings in my bed.

Hello everyone,

I’m Annika. I was born on May 15th 2001 in Bavaria, so therefore I am 16 years old now. I go to the school « Katholische Schule Liebfrauen » in Berlin. I live in Falkensee and also in the beautiful Potsdam because my parents are divorced. So my school’s course is a little bit longer, but it doesn’t really bother me. I ‘ve been playing the piano for ten years and I really love that hobby but three years ago I discovered tap dancing as my great passion.

Hey, my name is Maximilian and I’m 16 years old. I live in berlin and I really love this city. In my free time I like to do sports e.g. fitness, skating and road cycling, play computer games or meet friends.

In the picture you can see me in front of the schoolyard, which is one of my favourite places at school because it always reminds me of the breaks in which you can have a lot of fun with your friends.

Hey everyone!

My name is Anton and I’m 16 years old. In my freetime, I go sailing and play the piano. Even though my main subjects are maths and physics, I am very interested in creative exercises like painting.

One of my favourite places at school – beside the yard – is the art subject room. I like him, because in art lessons you can calm down and enjoy the allternation from everyday school life.

Hi! My name is Isabella and I‘m 17 years old. In my free time, I love to play tennis and I love to sing as well.

My favourite place at school are the four stones on the schoolyard. Because that was the place I always used to meet my friends in school breaks. We had serious talks, a lot of laughs and little fights. Now that we are grown up we don’t meet there anymore. Which is sad but I love to go back to that time and remind myself of all the great memory’s.

Hello!

My name is Milena. I’m 16 years old and I attend the Katholische Schule Liebfrauen in Berlin. In my free time I like to play tennis and meet friends.

As my favourite place I picked a hidden corner on our school ground. I have many memories of this place because I used to go there with my friends every break. I also picked that place because it was a chance to have a few quite moments. Just like I said it is a kind of hidden corner on our school ground and usually nobody goes there so my friends and I were always alone in that corner. At the same time we felt „cool“ to be there because we were actually not allowed to go there. The teachers couldn’t see us so every time they checked if someone was there and when they found us we would get send away because we weren’t allowed to stay. But we would go back there everytime and continue to climb up and down the stairs or just to sit down and talk about our problems and what’s going on in our lifes.

Hey there, my name is Isabel Klute and I’m 16 years old. I’m very interested in art and I love to take artistic pictures!

So when I think about the school in general and my time there, the first thing that pops up in my mind is the basketball court. I spent most of my time there, not because I played basketball myself (I’m actually pretty bad in every kind of sport, especially if it involves a ball!!) but because I love to watch people interact with each other. What I learned about watching those kids is that they play together as a team even though they aren’t in the same pear group. So this basketball court helps young people to come together.

Bonjour, mes amis!
My name is Vincenz and I am 16 years old. I live in Moabit,Berlin- the best city in the world. I really like to play Basketball and to make beats in my free time.
In the picture I am sitting on a staircase in our school. That’s my favourite place at school because my friends and I always met there before school started.
I associate many funny moments with the place but also small disputes. This was the place where we did our last-minute homework, compared our grades and where we secretly ate our lunch.
Thinking back of this time, personally i think it was a time of carefreeness and freedom.
